Meet The Team

Our team of passionate and experienced instructors is committed to imparting not only the technical aspects of dance but also the cultural significance and stories behind each movement. We believe that dance is not just an art form; it's a journey that connects us to our roots, fostering a sense of identity and pride.

Founder

Harmanjit Singh (Harman Ranvijay)

The journey started as Bhangra student during my graduation from Akal Degree College, Sri Mastuana sahib, Sangrur, Punjab, India. Since then, it is a never-ending journey. By profession, I was a science teacher. I continued my passion by taking part in youth festivals all over India. I was honoured by appointing as an Official Judge of Bhangra, singing competitions and theatrical activities on behalf of Punjabi University, Patiala; Punjab University, Chandigarh; G.N.D.U., Amritsar; PTU Jalandhar and many other colleges/universities in and outside Punjab. I am also a theatre graduate from Punjabi University, Patiala. I worked as a Bhangra Instructor at Punjabi University from 2004-2014.

I am also passionate about theatre and have participated in various theatrical plays like MITTI RUDAN KARE , Neon-Jarh, Waaris, Banda Bahadur, Tapish, Jasma Odan etc. played across Malwa region and Punjab (India) under Repertory Theatre, Punjabi University Patiala. I got an opportunity to be part of movies like “Ardaas Karan”, “Snowman” and “Gadri Yodhe” (to be released) in Canada. I am passionate about singing as well. Being a Bhangra Instructor, I am devoted to passing my knowledge and skills to our younger generations to keep our Punjab alive in their hearts

Gurinder Kaur

I am proud to be a part of this team. I work as a manager/Admin for this team. It’s always wonderful to be a part of a highly dedicated, enthusiastic, and hardworking team. We are looking forward to grow more with the community and serving neighboring communities in future.

Nikki Rai Mann

I belong to Chandigarh and Dancing was always my passion. I have performed in all the dance forms like Bhangra, Giddha Sammi, Haryanvi and other regional and modern dance forms but I loved Giddha always by my heart. I feel proud to be a Punjabi . Giddha is a great way to reduce your stress and it keeps me motivated. I always love being in kids and my passion motivated me to teach kids about this beautiful energetic dance form. I have been performing Giddha since 2007. I participated in many youth Festivals and won several competitions. I started teaching Gidha in BC since 2013. My students are actively teaching other students in the community which makes me proud. I also work as a Real estate agent in BC.

Simran Mangat

My name is Simran and I teach here at Malwa Folk Art Center. I really enjoy teaching here and I love being able to work with so many bright minds. I love Bhangra and I love that I am able to share my knowledge with students here at Malwa Folk Art Center! 

Harpreet Singh Parmar (Goldy)

I am excited to be a part of Malwa Folk Art Center, Surrey. I have been performing Bhangra for the last 20 years as a passion. During my journey I took part in countless youth festivals and was honored to be invited as a Judge in various national and international festivals. I am also a Physical Education Instructor by profession in India. I learned under the able guidance of my respected coach Harmanjit Singh (Director) and feel proud to be part of his team. I am looking forward to sharing my learning with community here in BC and all over Canada. Let’s Rock it, Team!

Our Vision

Malwa Folk Art Center was established in 2017 with handful of students. The endless love, devotion and experience of coach/Director helped to flourish the academy. We taught 2000+students and looking forward to serving the community for years to come. At Malwa folk, we welcome the families with warm heart and create fun filled environment to support learning and build skills. Our focus is to connect our students with rich Punjabi cultural heritage, language, and art through the energetic rhythms of Punjabi music, instruments,
and folklores. Folkdances like Bhangra and Giddha not only help to build your physical strength, but it generates inner strength, Discipline and boost self confidence.
